Huddlestone red card overturned

16:45, Sep 4 2012

Tom Huddlestone has won his fight to get his red card in Tottenham's Barclays Premier League game against Norwich rescinded.

The Football Association announced midfielder Huddlestone's claim for wrongful dismissal in Saturday's 1-1 draw had been upheld and withdrew his three-match ban.

Spurs contested the straight red card shown to the 25-year-old by referee Mark Halsey for a tackle on Jonny Howson late in the game.

Saturday was Huddlestone's first appearance for more than a year after he came off the bench at White Hart Lane.

The midfielder has been plagued by ankle problems and a loan move to Stoke broke down over concerns about a medical.

His bid to prove his fitness would not have been helped by a suspension that would have included games against Reading and QPR, and a Capital One Cup clash at Carlisle.
