Trott out with hand injury

16:45, Sep 4 2012

Jonathan Trott will miss England's final NatWest Series match against South Africa at Trent Bridge because of his hand injury.

Trott was hit on the right hand by a short ball from Dale Steyn in England's six-wicket victory at Lord's on Sunday, but has been cleared of any "major fracture" after an x-ray.

The number three played no part in practice in Nottingham on Tuesday, however, and the England and Wales Cricket Board have confirmed he will be absent on Wednesday.

Somerset batsman Jos Buttler was called into the squad as cover on Monday, but Jonny Bairstow is a more likely candidate to play his first match of a series England lead 2-1.
